NFL wagering history shows us that at least five of the teams that got to the playoffs a year ago will not make it in 2010. Which teams will probably fall this year? Which ones should you avoid when making an NFL bet?
Practically every one of the playoff teams from a year ago are going to be favored by NFL betting online. Plenty of of them will certainly fall short. Each year it happens. History has shown that repeating success after a Super Bowl year is very hard to do, though the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints are anticipated to be quite good again in 2010. Could one of these teams be unable to get to the playoffs in betting football in 2010? It does not seem likely but it is certainly feasible.
The San Diego Chargers finished 13-3 last year, yet there are warning symptoms that this squad is ready to go down. To start the year, the squad will be devoid of their best offensive tackle and best wide receiver. The AFC West is getting better and San Diego might be the squad that surprises everyone with a serious fall.
Those making an NFL bet are giving lots of hype this year to three NFC teams. They’re the Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers. The odds are that at least one of those teams turns into a letdown. It might be the Minnesota Vikings based on their hard schedule and with the uncertainty regarding quarterback Brett Favre.
The Philadelphia Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets were the other teams that had winning records last year. Because of the loss of quarterback Kurt Warner the Cardinals are already being downgraded, so if they don’t make the playoffs it would not be a surprise. The Jets are everybody’s “hot” squad going into 2010 but they have a major issue with cornerback Darrelle Revis holding out. The Baltimore Ravens are another popular pick for 2010 and they have defensive secondary issues of their own with competitors out as a result of injury. The Philadelphia Eagles have new starting quarterback in Kevin Kolb while the Cincinnati Bengals picked up Terrell Owens and if he implodes the Cincinnati Bengals might fall. It is difficult to see the Patriots missing the playoffs since they still have Tom Brady.
