Guidelines and approaches for Fantasy Football Draft by Russel Crow
Fantasy Football may be best defined as a game where you create your own fancy team of NFL to play against certain other teams belonging to your fantasy league. Your scoring at the end of each week is arrived at using your players’ actual NFL statistics for the week based on rushing yards, touchdowns, fumbles and all else.
At the end of the tournament, the teams with the highest records play against each other and the winner obviously becomes the league champion.
The general norm is a fantasy football league has 8 to 14 teams competing against one another. Each team roster usually has 15 players comprising of 9 starting positions and 6 as reserve strength. These numbers and the specific starting positions, however, vary from league to league and there is nothing rigid about it.
The rule is each NFL player can only be in one team in the league at a time. Drafts can be either live or online. For a live draft, all managers converge in person and an online draft is obviously conducted online via the service used to manage your league.
When the season is on, you will manage your roster and decide on the players to start and the players to remain on the bench. While making your selection, remember that only your starting players can score points for you. Of course, to improve your team, you are allowed to trade with other teams or replace an existing player with a free agent.
Each league keeps one coach who also functions as the league commissioner. It is the responsibility of the commissioner to construct the league, program the draft and find solutions to likely disputes.
To successfully play fantasy football, you will have to intently watch real football. You will soon become familiar with the names as well as the statistics of all players. When watching a game on TV you should start monitor the player statistics ticker shown at the bottom of the screen.
